Structural, system-wide change begins with coordinated efforts among all parts of the Democratic coalition. Blue Horizon Texas has assembled a Board of Directors and Advisory Board to lead and advise our efforts. They are current and former elected officials and candidates, campaign staffers, community organizers, and leaders of county parties and affiliated groups.

Board of Directors The members of the Board of Directors of Blue Horizon Texas are all former candidates who have run for federal, state, and local office across the state—from U.S. Congress and State Supreme Court to State Legislature, County Commissioner, and Justice of the Peace:

  • Coda Rayo-Garza, President

  • Kathy Cheng, Secretary

  • Spencer Bounds

  • Jennifer Cantu

  • Samantha Fields

  • FJ Jones

  • Audrey Spanko

  • Mary Wilson

Our Board members reflect the diverse communities and constituencies they sought to represent, and they remain active in serving their communities and growing the blue horizon in Texas. They understand the needs of candidates, and they know how to build coalitions within their communities.

Advisory Board

Our Advisory Board consists of a broad range of leaders in the Texas Democratic coalition. They have deep experience and knowledge of the existing Democratic Party and progressive infrastructure as elected officials and candidates, campaign staffers, grassroots organizers, and leaders of party organizations and allied groups:

Akilah Bacy - Mina Davis - Wendy Davis - Madi Eden - Hannah Horick - Steve Kling - Lana Hansen - Eric Holguin - Jennifer Longoria - Cari Marshall - Sherrie Matula - Celina Montoya - Lauren Pully - Lisa Seger - Brittany Soto - Caroline Spears -Joyce Townsend - Catherine Wicker - Philippa Wood

Representing the diversity of their communities, they help identify existing problems and gaps and propose potential solutions for candidates running in red, rural, and underinvested districts across the state.
